"In my world, one second is forever."

Tim has been racing in one form or another for over 20 years. Starting out by autocrossing his 911S locally with the Porsche Club, he has earned a reputation for being one of the quickest drivers and one of the very best instructors. A naturally happy and friendly guy, Tim’s easy going nature makes him easy to work with. His passion for driving comes across sincerely and shows that driving well is important to him.

In spite of regularly driving less than optimally prepared cars due to budget constraints, he has found a way to excel. On his way to winning multiple autocross and time trial championships, he has driven or raced nearly every model of Porsche.

In 1998, Tim saw karting as a way to further improve his driving technique so he started road racing indoor electric karts, then quickly transitioned to the competitive world of 100cc karts with the San Diego Karting Association. After karting for several years with moderate success, Tim has returned to road racing with Porsches as an even sharper driver.

For 2003, his new challenge was racing in the 944-spec. class where only limited modifications are allowed so that driving talent comes to the fore. With an under-prepared car, Tim set 3 track records in his first 5 races, then returned to one track in the next race to better his own record. Because of his racing knowledge and ability to manage people in a friendly, helpful, even-handed manner, he was asked to be the 944-spec. Series Director for Southern California. Under his leadership, the series grew from 0 to 15 cars in just 6 months.

For 2004, Tim again managed and participated in the Porsche 944-spec racing series with NASA. He held multiple track records in the Southern California region that year. He again managed the class for 2005, 2006, helping to grow the class locally and start several 944 spec groups around the country, and is still currently the Series Director.

He enjoys participating regularly as an instructor for the local 3-day PCA Performance Driving School, which is held every 6 months. He can also be found instructing at almost every local Porsche Club autocross and time trial.

The unforgiving, concrete-lined street course racing in Mexico is another driving experience that has sharpened his driving skill. Whether racing, being the crew chief, or spectating, he has attended races in Ensenada, Tecate, Mexicali and Tijuana twice.

Tim hopes to turn professional soon and continues to find ways to improve his driving while all the time sharing his love for driving with anyone interested.

I rented this car for the last two Qualcomm DE events and had a blast. I can’t go to Willow Springs on the 26 th-27 th, or I would definitely be renting Tim’s car. Tim is a great instructor, and his “arrive and drive” approach takes all the work out of preparing for these events- all you have to do is show up and have a great time out on the track. Tim’s car is well set up, light, and very responsive- it took a little getting used to after my Boxster, but his 944 was a blast to drive, and Tim’s coaching kept getting my lap times quicker and quicker. If you are thinking about getting into the 944-spec class, or just want to try some big track time without modifying your daily driver, this is definitely the way to go.
